Originally settled by the indigenous Leni-Lenape, New Hope has a long and rich history. The beauty of the area attracted the Pennsylvania Impressionist school of artists in the early 1900s, followed by Broadway summer stock theater. Decades later, New Hope is still a thriving arts community and home to creatives of all genres.
In 2003, New Hope Celebrates was founded, bringing together the LGBTQ+ community. They are the sponsors of the annual PrideFest in May. The Pride Parade has grown to over 15,000 in attendance and hosts a week of events and celebrations.

Evenings in New Hope provide a wide choice of entertainment. The Bucks County Playhouse has been entertaining patrons since it opened in 1939. The stage has been graced by great actors from Robert Redford to Grace Kelly and Angela Lansbury. The theater has been newly renovated and has a bar and restaurant for pre-theater dining.
Havana in New Hope offers dining with a Cuban flair and a schedule of tribute bands from the Stones to Van Morrison. They host a monthly tea dance sponsored by New Hope Celebrates and a drag show on Monday nights.
